Precedence

02 Dec

Accept that you must rest when the day’s done,
For a mind must cache its treasures away;
Pause, and exhale while sitting in the sun.

Though you prioritize work over fun
Each day fighting the temptation to sway,
Accept that you must rest when the day’s done.

Bear in mind lab rats spin wheels of their run
Never ceasing to set their thoughts at bay;
Pause, and exhale while sitting in the sun.

Even with death we continually shun
Like the aimless path of a hare as prey;
Accept that you must rest when the day’s done.

Nor the rivers that chase each new path spun
Can overcome the just of nature’s way;
Pause, and exhale while sitting in the sun.

Do not grieve when time signs “Now, I am done,”
Take stock of the many blessings each day;
Accept that you must rest when the day’s done,
Pause, and exhale while sitting in the sun.
